Inspiration for a Brighter Future

Electric Boats Will Soon Rule the Seas

Do electric boats exist?

Yes, they do. And they are rapidly growing in popularity.

This is because they are quiet, more efficient and don’t produce any harmful emissions.

Electric boats are also coming down in price and charging facilities are becoming more readily available.

What are Electric Boats?

To put it simply, electric boats are boats powered by electricity – rather than by fossil fuels such as diesel. This means that electric boats are incredibly environmentally friendly, as they produce zero emissions.

The electric motors are also much quieter than traditional engines, so – like electric cars – this makes travelling in them far more pleasant.

The quiet motors also mean that harbours and marinas can reduce their overall noise pollution. And with zero emissions from electric boats, air pollution will be helpfully reduced too.

Are There Electric Boats Available Now?

Currently, there are only a small number of electric boats available.

However, this is set to change in the near future. Several companies are currently working on new electric boat models, and it’s likely we’ll will see a huge rise in the purchase and usage of electric boats in the coming years.

It’s a trend that I definitely welcome.

To give you an idea of the type of electric boats currently available, take a look at the fully electric Pure Watercraft Pontoon Boat:

 Pure Watercraft Pontoon Boat

This sleek 25′ 9″ electric pontoon boat can accommodate up to 10 passengers and can travel up to 120 miles from a full charge. As you’d expect though, it’s not the cheapest boat on the market, with prices starting from $45,000.

Why are They Better Than Other Types of Boats?

Some people worry that electric boats won’t be able to compete with traditional boats in terms of speed and range.

This may be a genuine issue in the first generation of electric boats. But this certainly won’t be the case in the future, as technological advances in electric motors and batteries mean more speed, more range, and faster charging times for electric boats.

The other factor to consider is maintenance.

Electric motors have way less moving parts than gas or diesel engines. This makes them easier to maintain and more trouble-free. Saving you time, hassle and money.

What Are the Advantages of Owning an Electric Boat?

There are several advantages to owning an electric boat.

My top four advantages are:

1. Zero emissions: electric boats are completely emissions-free, so you can cruise the waterways without any worries about harming the environment.

2. Low maintenance: electric motors don’t require any maintenance other than a regular check-up, which is much less time-consuming and costly than maintaining a gas or diesel engine.

3. Quiet operation: electric boats are much quieter than traditional boats, making them ideal for you to enjoy the sounds of the water without disturbing the environment.

4. Reduced fuel costs: electric boats are cheaper to operate than gas or diesel powered boats. This means you’ll save money on fuel costs every time you cruise.

What Are the Disadvantages of Owning an Electric Boat?

There are a few disadvantages to owning an electric boat:

First of all, they’re not readily available in all markets yet.

Second, they’re typically more expensive than gas or diesel powered boats – which means they might be difficult for many people to afford.

There’s also currently a lack of charging facilities for electric boats. But, fortunately, this is being quickly addressed.

Electric Boats Are the Future

Electric boats represent a very promising new development, and I’m 100% convinced that they’re the future of boating and maritime transportation.

They are efficient. Quiet. And don’t produce any harmful emissions.

It you’re considering buying a small or medium-sized boat, then be sure to check out the latest electric boats on the market.

You could soon be enjoying the waterways and open seas in your clean, green, and super-quiet electric cruising machine.
