Inspiration for a Brighter Future

Bam•Brush is an Eco-Friendly Toothbrush Made From Freshly Harvested Bamboo

Did you know that 50,000,000 pounds of plastic toothbrushes end up in American landfills every year?

It’s a shocking amount.

Luckily, there is hope on the horizon in the form of the world’s first 100% biodegradable toothbrush.

Developed by U.S. company Planet Essentials, this innovative and eco-friendly toothbrush is both practical and affordable.

Freshly harvested bamboo makes up the body of Bam•Brush, while a rapidly biodegrading nylon compound is used for the bristles.

The American Dental Association recommends replacing your toothbrush every three months. Planet Essentials claims that Bam•Brush will last at least this length of time.

While the Bam•Brush is indeed colorful and fun to look at, it could help solve the serious problem of massive amounts of plastic waste being buried in the earth.

The Bam•Brush ships in recyclable packaging, and is available either individually or in a box of 12.

Planet Essentials have just begun raising funds for their new toothbrush via crowdfunding website Indiegogo. You’ll find their campaign site here.

It looks really attractive, I will definitely be tempted to give it a try. However, I don’t think I would be prepared to give up my electric toothbrush. Biodegradable changeable heads for electric toothbrushes?

It’s a fair point Carolyn. I guess the Bam•Brush is aimed at those (like myself) who are using non-electric plastic toothbrushes. Still, maybe in the future biodegradable electric toothbrush heads could be available…
